Licensing OwnCloud Numbers
Hey there,
I remember that at the beginning of the semester it was stated how important it is to have actual numbers and not just a write down a discussion or essay. The Licensing at OwnCloud case actually has next to no numbers except maybe for the amount of support granted in different editions, which is suppossedly not really helpful.
Are we supposed to use numbers out of the other OwnCloud case or should we since this is now technical product management have actual discussion about pro’s and con’s of different solutions without having any hard financial numbers to back up impacts on costs and revenues?
Can we use a scenario analysis to solve this case or are we supposed to use the product requirements document as an analysis framework?

Not all cases are numbers cases. If the case gives you good numbers, use them. If not, other approaches may be better. I only emphasize the use of numbers, where possible, at the beginning of the semester to avoid too much hand-waving where better solutions are apt. Also, computer science students often have never seen any structured calculations, say for expected revenues, in a spreadsheet, so that’s why we teach the first example case.
